Connecting an External Payment Provider

If you are unable to use Stripe, you can redirect your customers to a third-party payment processor to pay for their job postings. This guide will walk you through the process and provide tips and limitations to consider.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Set Up Your Payment Processor:

  • Choose a third-party payment processor that suits your needs (e.g., PayPal, Square).

  • Set up an account and configure your payment settings on the third-party platform.

2. Redirecting Customers to the Payment Processor:

  • When customers go to post a job on your Job Boardly job board, they will be redirected to the external payment processor.

  • Provide clear instructions on the payment page to ensure customers complete the transaction successfully.

3. Handling Job Post Approvals:

  • Turn off automatic approval for job posts to prevent unpaid posts from being published.

  • Navigate to Settings > Job Post Approvals and disable automatic approval.

  • Manually approve posts once you receive payment confirmation from the external processor.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: If you don't see where to enter the external payment URL it might be because your Stripe account is still connected. First disconnect your Stripe account from Job Boardly in order to see the option to add the payment URL.

Tips for Managing External Payments

Manual Approval Process:

  • After receiving payment, manually approve the job post by navigating to Job Posts > Pending Approval.

  • Verify payment and change the post status to approved.

Selling Promoted and Featured Posts:

  • Although only basic posts are available through Job Boardly with third-party payments, you can offer promoted and featured posts through your payment link.

  • Once you receive payment for a promoted or featured post, manually change the post type during the approval process.

  • Navigate to the job post, click Edit, and select the appropriate post type (promoted or featured).

Limitations to Consider

Exclusive Payment Method: You cannot use both Stripe and an external payment link simultaneously. Choose one method for handling payments.

Basic Job Posts Only: Job Boardly supports only basic job posts for sale with an external payment link. Additional job post types must be managed manually on your side.

No Automatic Redirection: Job Boardly cannot automatically redirect customers back to your job board after completing the payment on the third-party processor.

No Coupons: You cannot create or manage discount coupons within Job Boardly when using an external payment processor.

Lack of Payment Tracking: External payments will not be tracked or visible within Job Boardly. Maintain separate records to track payments and manage approvals.

Using an external payment provider allows you to handle transactions outside of Stripe, offering flexibility in managing job post payments. By following the steps outlined above and considering the limitations, you can effectively manage external payments and ensure a smooth process for both you and your customers.
