How to Use RSS Feeds and XML Feeds

Learn how to use RSS and XML feeds to distribute your jobs, automate workflows, and connect Job Boardly with external platforms and tools.

Written by Nelson Ryan

Job Boardly automatically generates RSS and XML feeds for your job board.

These feeds can be used to distribute your jobs to external platforms, automate social media posts, connect with third-party tools, or build custom integrations.

You can also choose to disable and hide these feeds at any time.

What Are Job Feeds?

Job feeds are automatically generated URLs containing your published job listings in a structured format.

Job Boardly provides two types of feeds:

  • RSS Feed → Best for content syndication and automation tools

  • XML Feed → Best for integrations, APIs, aggregators, and external job platforms

RSS Feed

Your RSS feed contains your latest published jobs in RSS format.

Example:

https://yourdomain.com/jobs.rss

RSS feeds are commonly used for:

  • Automating LinkedIn or social media posts

  • Newsletter automations

  • Zapier or Make automations

  • RSS readers

  • Content syndication

Example Use Cases

Automatically Post Jobs to Social Media

You can connect your RSS feed to:

  • Make

  • Zapier

  • Buffer

  • Hootsuite

This allows you to automatically publish new jobs to LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Telegram, and more.

Create Job Alert Emails

You can use your RSS feed with email tools like:

  • Beehiiv

  • Mailchimp

  • ConvertKit

To automatically send newsletters with new jobs.

Connect to External Tools

Many external platforms support RSS feeds natively.

Simply paste your RSS feed URL into the platform.

XML Feed

Your XML feed contains your jobs in XML format.

Example:

https://yourdomain.com/jobs.xml

XML feeds are typically used for:

  • External job aggregators

  • Job distribution platforms

  • Custom integrations

  • APIs

  • Importing jobs into other systems

Example Use Cases

Import Jobs Into Another Job Board

Some job platforms allow importing jobs through XML feeds.

You can provide your XML feed URL directly to those platforms.

Build Custom Integrations

Developers can use the XML feed to:

  • Read job data

  • Sync jobs externally

  • Create custom automations

  • Build APIs or dashboards

Connect With Job Aggregators

Some aggregators or partners may request an XML feed to import your jobs automatically.

How to Find Your Feeds

  1. Go to your Job Boardly dashboard

Settings → Job Feeds
  1. You will see:

  • Your RSS feed URL

  • Your XML feed URL

It should look something like this:

Hide or Disable Your Feeds

Job Boardly allows you to disable both RSS and XML feeds.

When disabled:

  • The feed URL will return a 404 page

  • The RSS metadata is removed from your site

  • External platforms will no longer be able to access the feed

This can be useful if:

  • You want to keep your jobs private

  • You do not want competitors scraping your jobs

  • You only want jobs visible on your own platform

Important Notes

Only Published Jobs Appear

Feeds only include published jobs.

Draft or expired jobs will not appear.

Feed Updates Are Automatic

Your feeds update automatically whenever:

  • A new job is published

  • A job is updated

  • A job expires or is removed

No manual action is required.

Feeds Are Public URLs

Anyone with the feed URL can access the feed while it is enabled.

If you want to restrict access, disable the feed.

RSS Feed Is Not Updating

Some external platforms cache RSS feeds aggressively.

Try:

  • Waiting a few minutes

  • Refreshing the feed manually

  • Reconnecting the automation
